Hadassah International is saddened at the passing of Cantor Mordecai Goldstein, husband of Barbara Goldstein, Deputy Director of Hadassah’s Office in Israel. We extend our sympathy to Barbara and her family. Barbara’s daughter, Devra Bender Miller, recently gave a speech in Puerto Rico in which she shared her experience at Hadassah Hospital-Ein Kerem the two weeks before her father passed away. Spearheaded by Hadassah Mexico Director Ethel Fainstein, Hadassah International, with the collaboration of the Costa Rican Israeli Zionist Center and the Universidad de Iberoamérica (UNIBE), provided a window into the life of Israel's former Prime Minister, Golda Meir, when it hosted the play, Golda's Balcony on October 31 and November 1in Costa Rica.

Experiencing the splendor of Designer Minh Ta’s summer collection while sipping champagne, participants in Hadassah New Zealand’s latest fundraiser helped to raise money for a Nurses Charting Station in the Onocology wing of the new Sarah Wetsman Davidson Tower at the Hadassah Medical Center, in memory of Immediate Past Hadassah New Zealand President Valda Knight.

Hadassah Mexico raised awareness about the Hadassah Medical Center among two thousand people, who came to see the musical, Beauty and the Beast, which Hadassah co-sponsored in collaboration with the Magen David and Mount Sinai Jewish communities of Mexico City, raising $11,000 for the new Sarah Wetsman Davidson Tower.

For the first time in Israel, physicians from the Hadassah Medical Center Heart Institute, using special equipment ordered from abroad, successfully performed a catheterization to enlarge a heart valve in an eight-year-old girl who was having difficulty breathing due to rheumatoid arthritis.

A study headed up by Dr. Michal Braun, a psycho-oncologist at the Hadassah Medical Center’s Sharett Institute of Oncology, reveals that the spouses of advanced cancer patients who serve as the primary caregivers are prone to depression.
