Hadassah Switzerland Hosts Luxury Auction with Support from 23 Renowned Brands
With the support, sponsorship, and artistry of internationally renowned Luxury Brands, Hadassah Switzerland conceived and hosted a luxury auction, featuring designer apples, as well as luxury watches, exclusive skincare products, couture handbags, and original paintings and sculptures, raising 75,000 Swiss Francs for the renovation of the Pediatrics Department at Hadassah Hospital-Mount Scopus.
Scheduling the auction during the season of the Jewish New Year, when Jews around the world typically dip apples in honey as they wish for a sweet year and we mark the anniversary of the creation of Adam and Eve, Hadassah Switzerland
chose the apple as its theme and titled the event, “Into the Garden of Eden.”
Each of the 23 participating brands created a unique apple that was auctioned together with a gift from the Brand.
Among the participants and sponsors were Travcon, Graff Von Faber-Castell, Baccarat, Christofle, IWC, Marc Jacobs, La Prairie, Wolford, and Tommy Hilfiger. Prada and Nina Ricci donated very generous presents for all the guests and Champagne Perrier-Jouet sponsored the reception, which opened the Sunday afternoon event. The Auction was broadcast on Swiss TV Chanel 1.
The reception was held in the Grand Salle of the landmark Metropol in Zurich. Dating back to the 19th century, Metropol has a gastronomic tradition of elegance. Today, restored to its former stature, it is owned by Clariden Leu and is one of the major locations of the private bank. The noble, glorious hall is open to people from around the world who come to celebrate events, as is the recreated Grand Café of 1894.
This apple, the donation of Zwyer Caviar, was created by Irma Roth,
a young Swiss artist. It has 3500 black pearls, with a stem covered in
real gold foil.
Hadassah Switzerland President Ellen Frick-Delman with Dr. Dirk Boll,
Managing Director, Christie's. “It was a unique experience to witness
the masterful and impressive manner in which Dr. Boll conducted the
auction,” notes Mrs. Frick-Delman.
Three Baccarat teams, including designers and craftsmen, worked
on their unique apple for three months.
