In cooperation with the Shimon Peres Center for Peace, Hadassah Germany hosted a black-tie dinner dance in June honoring Humanitarian and Entrepreneur Ghini Zaidman, and raising thousands of euros in support of the Hadassah University Medical Center’s treatment for Israeli and Palestinian children suffering from cardiac diseases.

Hadassah United Kingdom, in association with the British Friends of the Hebrew University and the Jewish Medical Association of the UK (J Med), hosted their annual Henry Cohen Lecture in July, this year featuring Prof. Sir Michael Rawlins, Founding Chair of the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence and 2011 Cohen Visiting Professor to Israel.

With the generous sponsorship of a Hadassah Germany Board Member who offered her private villa for the occasion, Hadassah Germany had the privilege of hosting a private charity dinner for 120 guests with internationally renowned star, John Malkovich, a close friend of Hadassah International Ambassador and Artist Veronica Ferres.

The Valda Knight Memorial Scholarship has been established in Memory of Valda Knight who was President of Hadassah International in New Zealand from 1996 until her untimely death in 2007. In those 11 years Valda lead a small Hadassah committee in New Zealand, placing this country strongly in the world net work of Hadassah.

Dr Ronald Ma of Auckland and Dr Benjamin Sedley of Wellington are the 2009 winners of the inaugural Valda Knight Memorial Scholarship. Established in memory of Valda Knight who was President of Hadassah International New Zealand from 1996 until 2007, the purpose of the Valda Knight Memorial Scholarship is to provide New Zealand health sector workers with an opportunity for professional development and comparative study at one of the world’s leading research and teaching hospitals. Through their applications, both winners boasted outstanding credentials and a strong ability to enrich their health and medical experience in New Zealand via a scholarship Award.
